Group “From March 30, it no longer assembles the Leapmotor T03 model at the plant in Tychy” – the concern said in a statement cited by the Reuters agency.

Stellantis also said that the company is fully involved in the introduction of Leapmotor vehicles to the European market, but currently considers various production options. Unfortunately, closer details regarding the fate of T03 production were not given, including Installation can be moved to another European factory.

Reuters reminds that he was first informed about the suspension of production on Monday (i.e. through the official message of the concern) French Dziennik Les Echos.

Reasons for stopping assembly

As the agency notes, Stellantis did not state, which was a direct reason for the decision to stop the T03 assembly in Tychy. However, this decision is part of a broader context of commercial tension between China and the West.

The decision to suspend production was made after The Chinese government ordered the automotive industry to suspend large investments in European countrieswhich supported the additional duties of the European Union for Chinese electric vehicles, as the sources of Reuters said in November. Poland was on the Chinese black list of EU countries that supported the EU duties.

According to Reuters Stellantis and Leapmotor are not planning to resume T03 in Europe yet.

Spain with the favorite of the Chinese

Last year, the partners gave up the production plans in Poland the second Leapmotor model – the electric Crossover B10. Meanwhile, Spain, which has abstained from the voice of community duties on Chinese electric cars, is currently favored in the production of the Leapmotor B10 EV model.
