Like every year, Consumer Reports conducted a study in which it tried to estimate, based on respondents’ answers, the total costs of maintaining a car during the first five years and the entire ten-year period of use of the car.
Results of this poll turned out to be unfavorable for European brands, especially German brands, which, in the opinion of respondents, are usually the most expensive to maintain. In the top five, as many as chets are German mothers.
The most expensive car brands to maintain
5.BMW
BMW was ranked fifth among the brands with the highest maintenance costs. During the first five years, the maintenance costs of the German brand were estimated at USD 1,700, while the total servicing costs over 10 years amount to USD 9,500.
4. Audi
Audi had the fourth highest maintenance costs. The first five years cost an average of $1,900. The total maintenance amount for the entire decade is $9,890.
3.Mercedes-Benz
The cost of maintaining another German brand, Mercedes-Benz (3rd most expensive), averaged $2,850 in the first five years and $10,525 in total over 10 years.
2. Porsche
Another German brand, Porsche, was placed second by Consumer Reports. During the first five years of operation, a Porsche costs an average of $4,000 to maintain. After 10 years, this amount increases to $14,090.
1. Land Rover
The British brand Land Rover topped the list. In this case, living costs average $4,250 over the first five years and $19,250 in total over 10 years.

5. Ford
Ford had the fifth-lowest maintenance costs, averaging $1,100 in the first five years and $5,400 in total costs in the 10-year period.
4.Lincoln
American luxury carmaker Lincoln had the fourth lowest maintenance costs. On average, you need to spend USD 940 to maintain this brand in 5 years, and USD 5,040 in 10 years.
2. Toyota and Buick
Toyota and Buick are tied for the second lowest maintenance costs. Toyota’s costs averaged $1,125 over the first five years and Buick’s averaged $900, both brands having an estimated $4,900 in total 10-year costs.
1. Tesla
According to Consumer Reports, it has the lowest cost of living Tesla. On average, Tesla electric cars cost $580 to service over the first five years and $4,035 over 10 years.
