Last week, President Gustavo Petro sparked a strong controversy in the country after he directly attacked Colombian female journalists “close to power,” publicly calling them “mafia puppets.” This unfortunate event took place during a speech in the department of Chocó.

“I insist that Petro’s attitudes are purely a matter of psychiatric analysis. One believes that a president must set an example and rise to the occasion, but deep down he is sending a message about how he thinks about women who practice journalism,” initially stated.
