In an interview with the program, Senator Paola Holguín, of the Democratic Center, said Tuesday, May 6, denounced President Gustavo Petro before the Chamber’s Accusations Commission after the statements of former chancellor Álvaro Leyva.
The latter said that during an official visit to France, in mid -2023, the president disappeared two days and that he would also have “drug addiction problems.”
Holguin said that the crimes of prevaricate for action and ideological falsehood would have been committed in a public document, for a decree signed by the president at that time.
In this decree, it was affirmed that the visit to the European country was extended beyond what is budgeted for “airport technical reasons” and “agenda changes”.
“I denounced President Petro in the Accusations Commission because, according to the letter of Leyva and the president’s arguments in his X account, one can deduce that there is prevaricate per action and, in addition, there is ideological falsehood in the decree signed by the president for the issue of France,” said Holguin in.
It should be remembered that in response to Leyva’s claims about his “disappearance” in Paris, Petro implied that he visited his daughters and granddaughters residing in that city.
“The only way for the press to publish letters is insulting me. Not only speaks badly about the writer, but about the press. Is it that Paris has no parks, museums, bookstores, more interesting than the writer, to spend two days? Almost everything in Paris is more interesting,” Petro wrote.
He added: “Is it that I don’t have daughters and granddaughters in Paris, much more interesting than the writer?”
This version was seconded by his daughter Andrea, who assured that the president was with his granddaughters, an action that he described as “his favorite hobby.”
“In France, my dad found something strange in Colombia: family time, privacy, calm. His favorite hobby was to be with my daughters, being a grandfather without distractions. Guilty of disconnecting it a bit? I assume it. We only looked for a peace that they do not allow,” he wrote.
It should be remembered that this week Senator María Fernanda Cabal, of the Democratic Center, also filed a complaint for the same facts.
