On the other hand, public universities, although they are free of charge and allow greater facilities for those who must pay a fee, the truth is that they also complicate the task to a certain extent, since some of the application exams are complex and those who have not had good educational processes do not manage to pass them.

All students in the country are generally required to take a state test, called Saber 11, which assesses different competencies to determine the skills each student has. Critical reading, mathematics, and English are some of the skills assessed there.

The most popular program is the so-called Generation E, which has several approaches that reward academic excellence among Colombian students. This program is led by the Ministry of National Education, which prioritizes students who have conditions of economic vulnerability.

Applicants from Generation E must have a score equal to or greater than 345 on the Saber 11 tests. Others must be among the 10 high school graduates with the best scores on the Saber 11° test for the Departments of Amazonas, Arauca, Caquetá, Casanare, Cesar, Chocó, Guainía, Guaviare, La Guajira, Archipiélago de San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, Putumayo, Vaupés and Vichada. For the rest of the departments only the 3 best scores will apply.

Another of the current government initiatives is the Generation Esecond program, which promotes excellence, teamwork, among others. This program covers the full cost of tuition and also provides a support benefit during the study period. Students who aspire to the scholarship must register a score greater than or equal to 350 on the Saber tests. They must also meet a Sisbén score equal to or less than 57 points.

Scholarships for female heads of household

Female heads of household in Colombia will have the opportunity to take a special program focused on strengthening entrepreneurial skills. To this end, the ROFÉ Foundation launched a call for applications consisting of 100 completely free scholarships.

The program consists of the transfer of soft and technical skills essential for entrepreneurshipproviding a unique opportunity to improve the quality of life of women and their families.

Beneficiaries will have access to four free courses, each focused on key aspects for business development:

1. Soft skills course

2. Entrepreneurship course

4. Online sales course

The program also offers complementary services that include emotional support, emotional well-being talks and personalized advice to strengthen business ideas, among other key topics to increase the probability of success with a particular venture.
