After a week of tension surrounding the election of the next rector of Rosario, the electoral college revealed this Monday, October 7, the names of the finalists to occupy that prestigious position.
The list is made up of three men and three women. These are all very well-known people in the academic community of the institution.

These are the candidates:

The election that ends this Wednesday is, perhaps, one of the most controversial in recent history. And, for that same reason, he has all eyes on him. It happened untimely when on April 18, the council (a type of board of directors of the university) decided to remove the then rector, José Alejandro Cheyne, from his position after two weeks of intense controversy and debate about his management.
The Rosary has a particular and very ancient form of election that dates back 365 years. It is made up of five counselors and 15 schoolchildren. The former are elected by an electoral body made up of the rector and the schoolchildren for a period of four years. And the students are, in turn, appointed by the councilors and the rector.
The fact that the election is taking place this week has a fundamental reason. In history, the rectors of the Rosario are usually consecrated on October 24, when the day of the Virgin of La Bordadita is commemorated, the patron saint of the Colegio Mayor, to whom the chapel located on the southeastern side of the Cloister is dedicated and where it will be held. the mass prior to election day. Everything seems to indicate that this year on that day there will already be white smoke.
