Benefit for entrepreneurs injured in the flood
During a press conference at the Lower Silesian Marshal’s Office, the minister recalled that on Tuesday the Sejm adopted a special flood act. “We tried to include tools that would meet the needs of entrepreneurs,” said Paszyk, emphasizing that the solutions contained in the special act were consulted with entrepreneurs of flooded towns.
Paszyk said that his ministry was particularly interested in preparing an aid tool that would not be conditional on the valuation of damage by appraisers. “This easy-to-use tool allows you to redirect public funds to help individual entrepreneurs, whose needs in connection with losses incurred during the flood are very different. This requires maximum flexibility,” Paszyk said.
What do you have to do to receive the benefit?
The Minister informed that in order to receive the aid benefit the injured entrepreneur should go to ZUS and submit an application and declaration there. “It’s a simple statement that will trigger the entire procedure. This will not require any documents related to loss assessment. ZUS will make a preliminary verification and this will be enough to start the process of benefit payment,” argued Paszyk.
Two support options to choose from
He added that entrepreneurs will have two options for granting aid. The first one – as he said – was 16,000. PLN for each person insured in the company. “Not only the employed, but also the insured – this includes people who are employed under other forms than an employment contract. This is a convenient option for those who have a dozen or several dozen insured employees in their company,” he said.
The second form of calculating the amount of aid for entrepreneurs affected by the flood is – as the minister said – beneficial for self-employed people. “It’s 75 percent. average monthly revenue for last year,” said the minister. He added that no more than two weeks should pass from the date of submitting the application to the payment of the benefit.
Settlement of aid
The minister also announced that each entrepreneur who uses this benefit will have five months to settle it. “This benefit will be paid up to one million zlotys or the value of the damage suffered,” he emphasized.
Representative of the Ombudsman for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises for floods
During the press conference in Wrocław, Paszyk also announced that a representative of the Ombudsman for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises for flooding had been appointed. It is Łukasz Osiński, whose headquarters will be in the Lower Silesian Innovation and Science Park in Wrocław. The representative’s task is to help entrepreneurs affected by floods, for example in contact with insurers or government and local government institutions.
The president of Employers of Poland, former long-time president of Wrocław, Rafał Dutkiewicz, emphasized that Employers of Poland and a number of other business corporations were actively involved in collecting money and other forms of assistance for flood victims. “We have collected over PLN 125 million, of which PLN 25 million in cash and PLN 100 million in the form of in-kind assistance,” Dutkiewicz said.
