Żabka conquers Romania: 50 new stores and plans for the future
– We intend to open about 50 stores in Romania by the end of this year and this will allow us to test this format on the Romanian market. The first six months of next year will be a test of this format and at the end of next year we will make a decision on a specific roll-out on this market. – Suchański said during a video conference.
Group chief strategy & development officer Żabka, Tomasz Blicharski, said: The Żabka Group plans to open 50-60 new locations in Romania by the end of this year. He added that the Group currently has 20 branches in Romania by the end of this year.
– We estimate that the market potential reaches approximately 4,000. shops – added Blicharski. The Group estimates the potential in Poland at 19-20 thousand. shops.
Żabka is accelerating its expansion in Poland and Romania
Earlier, the Żabka Group announced that the Group’s goal is to open approximately 1,100 stores in 2024 alone and to open over 1,000 outlets annually in the medium term in Poland and Romania. The Group assumes that by 2028 its stationary network in Poland will consist of approximately 14,500 stores (which means opening approximately 4,500 new stores in Poland in 2024-2028).
The Żabka Group also announced earlier that it had a specific plan action strategy based on three pillars: :
- opening new stores in Poland and Romania,
- increasing comparable sales (LFL), frequency of customer visits and basket value,
- ensuring further growth in sales of the digital offer.
Żabka before its debut on the WSE
Yesterday, the Żabka Group announced its plan to conduct an initial public offering (IPO) without issuing new shares and its debut on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, which – according to the schedule in the prospectus – would take place on October 17 (or around that date). CVC declared that it would remain a shareholder of the company after the IPO.
