Shopping Sunday in October
Traditionally on Sunday, October 6 large retail chains, hyper- and supermarkets and discount stores will be closed. Next Sunday is non-trading Sunday. Which means that big purchases have to be done on Saturday. Fortunately, most of them retail chains has on this day shops open from 6.00 hours until 10 p.m.
It is open a little longer, until 10.30 p.m., among others. Dino store in Bydgoszcz. However, the absolute record holders are the chain’s branches in Warsaw Carrefour hypermarketswhich closes its stores at 11 p.m and Biedronkand in which you can do your shopping until 11.30 p.m. Accurate opening hours of specific stores can be found on the Internet by entering the name of the retail chain and the street where the store you are looking for is located.
Compulsory Sunday shopping
Life likes to surprise. That’s why it’s worth knowing where you can shop in an emergency on the first Sunday in October. The act banning Sunday trading allows the opening of small establishments allowing for basic necessities. Which means that on Sunday, October 6, the following facilities will be open:: :
- small local shops operated by the owner or his family members,
- gas stations,
- catering outlets such as a cafe, restaurant, wine bar or bar
- pharmacies and pharmacy points,
- post offices,
- flower shops.
Mostly these trading points are open from 10.00 to 18.00sometimes even until 8 p.m. They are an exception 24-hour gas stations and pharmacieswhich, as the name suggests, are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Online stores are excluded from the trade ban. In some networks, e.g. Frog can be ordered shopping with home delivery. After placing an order in the application, the courier brings the shopping bags to the customer’s door.
Next shopping Sundays
There are only seven trading Sundays in 2024:
- January 28, 2024,
- March 24, 2024,
- April 28, 2024,
- June 30, 2024,
- August 25, 2024,
- December 15, 2024,
- December 22, 2024
As you can see from the schedule above, the first five trading Sundays are already behind us. To the end October and November we have to settle for it shopping on Saturdays. Last trading Sundays this year are for two weeks before ChristmasThat is December 15 and 22, 2024.
