The name of the new president of Orlen's management board will be announced this week, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced. He added that he would expect him to “immediately” propose proposals that would increase the sense of security and availability of fuels in Poland.
“This week we will meet the new head of Orlen and as prime minister, I will expect – because that is why the state controls companies such as Orlen – that he will immediately present proposals that will increase the sense of security and availability of fuel in Poland. I hope that he will fulfill this task quickly. and effectively,” Tusk said during a press conference.
Currently, Witold Literacki is the acting president
Last week, the Minister of State Assets, Borys Budka, announced that Orlen's supervisory board should elect members of Orlen's new management board this week, after completing the auditions of over 200 candidates for these positions.
On March 8, Orlen's supervisory board announced that the qualification procedure for the positions of 9 members of Orlen's management board may be extended due to the large number of applications. At the beginning of last month, it announced that 260 applications from candidates had been received in the proceedings.
Currently, Orlen's management board includes: acting president Witold Literacki, member of the management board Józef Węgrecki, and Kazimierz Mordaszewski, Ireneusz Sitarski and Tomasz Zieliński, delegated from the supervisory board to temporarily perform the duties of a member of the management board.
The Orlen Group manages refineries in Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania, conducts retail operations in Central Europe, mining operations in Poland, Norway, Canada and Pakistan, and is also involved in energy production, including renewable energy sources and natural gas distribution. As part of the construction of a multi-energy concern, the company finalized the acquisitions of Energa, Grupa Lotos and PGNiG. Its consolidated sales revenues reached PLN 372.64 billion in 2023. The company has been listed on the WSE since 1999; is included in the WIG20 index.
