According to the former senator, he does not believe that President Gustavo Petro will remain in power. “Petro may want to stay, but he has no chance,” he said, indicating that while the president insists on his “constituent power,” constitutional avenues do not work for him. First, because it is prohibited by law. And, second, because the only other avenue left to him would be a coup d’état.
“Since the law does not allow it, he has to carry out a coup d’état. The question that one asks is: And with whom does he carry out the coup d’état? Him and Veronica with a rubber band each in their hands? That cannot be done like that and if he goes down that path, and he goes wrong, he will end up in jail,” he said.
“I don’t see any possibility of that and the more days pass, the tighter the space becomes,” added the former congressman, indicating that President Gustavo Petro, while it is true that he talks about a Constituent Assembly, has not presented any project in the Congress of the Republic and the time is moving towards 2026.

According to the former senator, if President Petro embarks on trying to stay in power at any cost, he will end up alone. “He is a liar, an expert in deceiving,” he stressed. Immediately after, he said, the UNGRD scandal weakens President Gustavos Petro “he does not have the votes,” reason enough to determine that, through democratic means, the president does not have the slightest chance of presenting a project to alter the Constitution and find support in the Legislature.
“I do believe that he will break his neck in that leap. I don’t see that he has any chance of successfully completing a coup d’état. These are big words; a coup d’état is violating the Constitution. It would have to be something like a decree, in which it would say: ‘starting in such a year, the president can be re-elected or starting in such a year, the Constitution is changed in this way’. But from there to ending up in jail, there is only one step,” Robledo said previously, also on ‘Vicky en SEMANA’.
