As we can read on the Lab Farm website, the people involved in the project want to eat meat, but for the good of the animals and the planet, they decided to learn how to obtain it in other ways than by killing.

The company wanted to obtain PLN 16 million in funding from NCBiR, but the grantor decided to grant slightly more than half of that amount – PLN 9 million. The money will be paid out from August 1, 2024 for 2 years and 9 months. Previously, the startup financed its work from its own funds.

According to media reports, Lab Farm began work in 2022. Now, thanks to funding, the development and research stage will be launched, which will last 2 years. It will include the cultivation of cellular meat in 200-liter bioreactors. So far, the company has already noted its first successes – at the end of June, it presented a laboratory-grown poultry meatball to the public.

Importantly for vegans who have pets under their care, the company is planning to work on a prototype of wet pet food. It is already in talks with a British company operating in the pet food market. It plans to introduce cellular meals for cats and dogs to European markets.

As we can read on the Interia website, 174 companies around the world are currently working on cell-cultured meat. Their combined value is currently over 3 billion dollars, by the end of the year it is to increase to 9.3 billion dollars, and in 2030 – 25 billion dollars.
