Among the macroeconomic topics discussed will be the debate “Debt – a drive or a ballast of development?”. As we read in the introduction, the currently popular economic theory states that countries can indebt indefinitely and in this way finance long-term economic development, satisfying the needs of citizens and consumers. Supporters of MMT (Modern Monetary Theory) consider policies that aim to have a balanced budget or minimize the threat of inflation to be anachronistic. In their opinion, there is no such risk, because inflation can always be defeated by raising taxes, and a deficit can stimulate production, consumption and economic development. Has a financial perpetual motion machine really been invented or rather a recipe for further financial shocks? What have the crises of the first decades of the 21st century taught us? The discussion will be moderated by Sławomir Dudek, President of the Institute of Public Finance at the Warsaw School of Economics, and the invitation to participate was accepted by: Rachid Bouhia, economic expert at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Zbigniew Dylewski, university lecturer, entrepreneur, running his own YouTube channel, Petr Musil, member of the Czech Fiscal Council, and Martin Šuster, member of the Fiscal Responsibility Council from Slovakia.
In Karpacz, topics related to the labor market, HR, and career paths will also be discussed. The discussion “Women in business: challenges and barriers on the road to success” will be led by Magdalena Szefernaker, author of the books “Mama na obcasach” and “Samorząd na obcasach”. The following will take part: Monique Clua Braun, country president of Novartis Poland, Dagmara Brzezińska, vice president of the board for sales at InPost, Katarzyna Byczkowska, managing director of BASF Polska, actress Katarzyna Figura, Kinga Marczak, general manager of Personnel Service, and Agnieszka Plencler, president of the Consumer Forum. The participants will talk about the biggest obstacles on women’s career paths, the reasons for the lack of promotions to top management positions, what is key to changing the position of women in society: appropriate education, systemic changes or social awareness, what motivates women the most to achieve further successes and break barriers, and what distinguishes them in business compared to men.
