Before noon on temporary market at Marywilska Many visitors arrived, focusing their attention mainly on clothing assortment; the gastronomic zone also enjoyed great interest.

“We had to come when we found out that Marywilska 44 was reopening. Will the stores we used to shop at return? Let’s hope they have survived and have been reborn. We will definitely come here and support this place financially,” a regular customer of the shopping complex told PAP.

Another emphasized that she came to the market out of curiosity. “Previously, there was a lot of good quality assortment here, Polish brands at good prices. We’ll see if it will be similar now,” she added.

One of the sellers in Temporary Town indicated that the merchants were optimistic. “The president, the staff at Marywilska, everyone approached us with all their hearts. It was a huge loss for us, millions of złoty were burned. I had three boxes in the hall, I could have gotten two containers, but I didn’t want to. Let everyone get one, because these are hard years of work for these people. The most important thing for us is for customers to come, and we’ll all manage the rest,” she noted.

The effects of the fire at the Marywilska 44 shopping complex and the city’s intervention

Marywilska 44 Shopping Complex burned down on May 12, and with it over 1.4 thousand service points. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the prosecutor’s office. The city offered help to the sellers, offering them places at city bazaars. In turn, the company leasing the land from the city committed to the fastest possible building a temporary hall from containers.

National Prosecutor’s Office informed about the ongoing demolition works and inspection of the market at Marywilska 44. The demolition works are carried out under the supervision of the prosecutor and the Warsaw police in accordance with the demolition project developed on the basis of the decision of the district construction supervision inspector.

New opening with over 400 stores on Marywilska
