On Monday, the Central Statistical Office reported that tourist accommodation facilities in the first half of 2024, 16.9 million people used it, i.e. 3.4%. more than in the same period last year.
As noted by the Central Statistical Office, the calculations concern tourist accommodation establishments with 10 or more beds.
The fewest tourists in the first half of the year stayed in accommodation facilities in January – 2.2 million (0.8% more than a year earlier). The highest number was in June – 3.8 million, up 5.1%. more compared to June 2023
Poland is gaining in the eyes of foreign tourists
Data from the Central Statistical Office also indicate that in the period January-June, 41.3 million overnight stays were provided in Poland (2.4% more than a year earlier). More than half of the overnight stays were provided in hotels – 22.7 million. In health resorts there were 5.1 million overnight stays, while in holiday resorts and other hotel facilities – 3.4 million.
Among all tourists staying overnight in the first half of the year, the vast majority, 80.5 percent were domestic tourists (13.6 million), while 19.5 percent foreign tourists (3.3 million). Compared to the same period in 2023, it was 3.1%, respectively. and 4.8 percent more.

From which country do most tourists come?
Tourists from Europe predominated in the total number of foreign tourists – 2.8 million (84.3% of the total). foreign tourists). Among them, 23.2 percent were Germans (767.9 thousand), 11.7 percent Ukrainians (387.0 thousand), and 9.6 percent people from Great Britain (316.5 thousand).
Regions that have not been the first choice so far are gaining in popularity among foreigners. By 57 percent more foreign tourists visited the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, and 24.7 more tourists from abroad visited the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Such high growth dynamics is the result of the so-called low base, but it is a positive signal for service providers from these regions of Poland.
According to the Central Statistical Office, half of the voivodeships recorded a decline in the number of foreign visitors. The largest – by 36%. – in the Łódź Voivodeship.
