– The research that I conducted shows that Poles who do not do it see investors first as risks, people who like risk and feel good in it. Secondly, according to them, the investor is a wise man, although sometimes also a dodger, combinator – says prof. Katarzyna Sekścińska.
He explains that this picture is in a kind of opposition to the perception of investors themselves. In this vision, investors appear rather as those who, although they value risk, are also prudent.
The stock exchange as a life success
– We invest not only for money. In the first reflex, you can naturally ask, then why? Of course, everyone invests to multiply capital, some say that they invest to fight inflation, some want to secure their future retirement, but generally at the end of the day it is all about money. Only is it really like that? When we ask not stock market investors, they actually point to you money – says the researcher.
However, it turns out that the same question asked to investors receives a completely different answer.
– approximately 40 percent stock market investors say that investing on the stock exchange is such a good indicator of their success, not only financial, but in general life. Investing gives these people real pleasure – says prof. Sekścińska – approximately 30 percent respondents indicate that investing is a necessity for them in their own way, but this pleasure component always prevails. The respondents see investing as an almost central part of their lives. Over 20 percent of them he even describes them as an addiction. They say that it would be difficult for them to stop today and from tomorrow to be an investor.
– We must be aware that money and self -esteem are often substitutes. We can compensate for deficiencies in one area with excess in the other. So if today I generally feel bad, but I can beautifully draw the result on my brokerage account, then there is a thought that maybe I’m not so bad at all – explains prof. Sekścińska.
