A new national unemployment day is being held this Wednesday, May 28 in different cities in Colombia. The objective of these mobilizations is to show support to President Gustavo Petro and his governmentin relation to the controversial popular consultation.
In the beginning, it was indicated that the protests were convened by social, student and central workers’ organizations. In addition, it was speculated that about 4 million people would take to the streets.
However, the panorama is completely different, at least this is seen several political and social sectors, which have warned, contrary to what the Head of State has said, that this strike was promoted by the president.
Several political voices spoke in De Y They revealed the way Petro is behind this callalthough he has not had the support he thought.
Julio César Triana, representative to the Chamber for Radical Change, said that the workers’ centrals are not the only ones that made the call, but it is very clear that the government and the president himself are also responsible.
“Petro will not go down in history through the great works and efforts that he leaves Colombia, but for having been a president concentrated in promoting protests against Congress”He said.
In that sense, he argued that little attendance on this occasion shows that there is already “wear” and “decline” when supporting this type of event.
“Colombians are already tired of limiting their right to mobility. The people of the private sector, today went to work normally, it was the government who gave officials to the officials to go to the march, ”he said.
Triana said that all this is seen in the sad images about the protests that are being developed. “The Colombians began to get tired,” he said.

Mauricio Gómez Amin, senator of the Liberal Party, spoke in that same line and said that in the streets an “absolute normality” is observed.
For the same reason, the congressman said that he is more than clear that Petro’s executive likes “chaos and marches”, than to work to solve the problems that are throughout the country.
“The president has passed it on pallets, inciting hatred and violence, But he has very little legacy to show because he has only dedicated himself to lying to the country, ”he said.
The senator took the opportunity to send a message to the president and made a clear warning.
“Do not try to cross the line, respect the division of powers and do not play with Candela. Colombia is a democracy of strong institutions and the public force is next to the institutions and not on its side, ”he concluded.
Finally, he said they can choose to present the popular consultation on several occasions, but they will always receive the same response from the Senate.
