On Wednesday, March 25, 2026 UOKiK issued a statement regarding inspections carried out in 2025. Trade Inspectionacting on behalf of the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, inspected 3026 entities – from shops and gas stations to hotels and service points, such as hairdressing salons and car repair shops. The scale of irregularities and the most common shortcomings
Irregularities were found in 1,462 entrepreneursi.e. almost half of those inspected. They also concerned 13 percent proven products (60,001 cases). Most often it was missing price information or was she illegible. In many cases no unit price was given (e.g. per liter or kilogram) or it was incorrectly calculated.
There were often shortages at service points price listsand instead of specific amounts, prohibited “from-to” price ranges were used.
Before a consumer puts a product in the cart or uses a service, he or she must know how much he or she will pay without asking the seller. According to the Trade Inspection inspection, entrepreneurs do not always fulfill this obligation. They thus violated the basic consumer right, i.e. the right to information. The price must be clear, unambiguous and final. “From-to” price ranges are not allowed – he said, quoted in the release President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, Tomasz Chróstny.
Irregularities they also concerned promotions. Information about the lowest price from 30 days before the discount was often missing, which made it impossible for consumers to assess the actual attractiveness of the offer. Sellers most often applied discounts to prices regular, and not the legally required price from the last 30 days.
Financial penalties and the reaction of entrepreneurs
Most of them are under inspection entrepreneurs corrected errors in price markings. However, the Trade Inspection imposed penalties on 899 entities financial penalties with a total value of over PLN 1.2 million (PLN 1,204,194).
What must the price include?
The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection reminded that the price must be unambiguous, final and include all taxes, as well as be available to the consumer without the need to ask the seller. It is also mandatory to provide unit prices and provide reliable information about promotions. “From-to” price ranges are not allowed.
The price on the shelf is different from the price at the checkout. What to do?
The Office emphasized that in the event of discrepancies between price on the shelf and at the checkout, the consumer has the right to purchase at a more favorable price. Consumers can report irregularities to Trade Inspection, which conducts regular market inspections.
